St. Teresa's Academy is committed to continuing its leadership in the education of Kansas City's young women into the new millennium. Accordingly, the Academy has spent thousands of hours consulting with its faculty, staff, students, alumnae, parents and community leader in charting the best future course in pursuit ot its mission. From this planning process has emerged a strategic plan that will guide the school in extending and enhancng its heritage of academic excellence.

This plan revolves around six main goals:

CSJ Identity: The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet continue to inspire St. Teresa's and Kansas City with strong moral vision, values and mission. The Academy will vigorously pursue creative ways to promote the spiritual formation of the St. Teresa's community in the tradition of these confident and learned religious women.

Resource Management: The Academy has a long and proud history of providing a first class, affordable education to all academically qualified women. The school is determined to maximize its financial and capital resources in a continual quest for excellence in education within a diverse academic environment.

Science: The history of St. Teresa's indicates that there is no reason for gender to be a hindrance to performance in any field. The academy will give top priority to a continual upgrading of its exceptional faculty and facilities to ensure that the school remains a leader in this very inportant area.

Cultural Arts: In the education of a well-rounded woman an appreciation of the fine arts is crucial. The Academy will provide the highest quality of instruction and accomodations for the presentation of the creative energy and talents of its students in music, art and drama.

Technology: The Academy sets a standard among area independent schools for its technological instruction and capabilities. All students will be prepared to face the ever-changing challenges of computer technology with high proficiency.

Athletics: The growing popularity of women's sports is exemplified by the Academy's award winning programs. St Teresa's will maintain its championship form by providing its players and coaches the finest in equipment and facilities for both competitive and intramural sports.

For more than seven generations St. Teresa's Academy has been resolute in its commitment to providing the young women of our community an education that prepares them to be confident and self-assured citizens. Soon to bridge into its third century, the Academy faces the future and its challenges with the same spirit as those thousands of women who have led the school to this point in its history.
